Fill your house with stacks of books, in all the crannies and all the nooks. ~ Dr. Seuss

Bread and Jam for Frances

line Bread and Jam for Frances
by Russell Hoban (Author), Lillian Hoban (Illustrator)

Who’s A Fussy Easter?

Frances is a fussy eater, the only thing she will eat is bread and jam. It is her favorite thing. She likes it so much that she trades her chicken sandwich with Albert at lunchtime for bread and jam. When mother asks why she wont try new things, she replies “I always know what I am getting when I eat bread and jam”. Frances’s mother comes with a clever plan to make her change her mind.

This is a very good book to teach children about variety and new experiences. Every parent dealing with fussy eaters at home can relate to it. Russell Hoban stories have simple words with strong story lines. They are good to read to younger children who will think Frances’s songs are funny, but it can also be a level 2 independent reader.
